The Dallas Mavericks badly missed the services of Cooper Flagg during their 118-109 home defeat against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night, as the rookie swingman rolled his ankle during the first half.
Flagg was hurt after fouling Peyton Watson on a drive with 6:01 left in the second period. He temporarily left the court and returned with 2:35 left, but the Dallas Mavericks forward didn’t play again after the halftime break, finishing the night with six points on 3-for-9 shooting from the field in 15 minutes.
“He stepped on someone’s foot,” Kidd told Tim MacMahon of ESPN. “Last game, he twisted his ankle, too. We decided to hold him (out) for the second half.”
“This is a hard time for us. We have had a lot of injuries… We have been hurt since day one of training camp. This is the norm. The character has been displayed in tough times of being down. But we keep fighting,” he added.

Dallas Mavericks News: Jason Kidd dishes on Anthony Davis’ hand injury
The Dallas Mavericks recently confirmed that Anthony Davis doesn’t need surgery and is expected to miss only six weeks to recover from his hand injury, giving Jason Kidd and co. a sliver of hope.
“I think it’s good when you talk about six weeks, that’s a positive. If he had to have surgery, does that mean that’s longer? I don’t know, but I think it’s just good that he didn’t have to have surgery, and the number was six weeks,” Kidd said via ClutchPoints’ Joey Mistretta.
Besides Cooper Flagg and Anthony Davis, the Dallas Mavericks also lost Daniel Gafford due to an ankle injury he sustained in the third quarter against the Denver Nuggets, which opened up more playing time for Caleb Martin, Dwight Powell, and Naji Marshall.
