Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd was perplexed that Max Christie wasn’t even in consideration for this year’s Three-Point contest in the NBA All-Star Weekend, despite his solid shooting numbers this season.
After all, Christie is among the most efficient three-point shooters in the NBA. At 42.5 percent, the Dallas Mavericks swingman has a higher three-point percentage than the actual participants, except for Jamal Murray, with whom he is tied. In fact, Damian Lillard is also a participant, despite not having played a game this season due to an Achilles injury.
“Looking at his numbers, they’ve gotten a lot better, and we’re going to need him for the second half of the season to continue to keep growing,” Kidd told Dwain Price via the Dallas Mavericks’ official website. “He should be here in the three-point contest with his numbers. But he’s young, and he’ll have another opportunity next year… Hopefully, he uses that as motivation because he deserves to be here.”
“He’s obviously one of the best shooters in the league, but it is what it is,” PJ Washington added about Christie’s snub. “He’s been putting the work in all offseason and during the season as well. Obviously, he’s a great player, and he’s going to keep making jumps, and he’s going to be something special.”

Dallas Mavericks News: Max Christie shares blunt response on the team’s nine-game losing streak
The Dallas Mavericks are on a nine-game losing streak after losing 124-104 to the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night, as they were without rookie Cooper Flagg (foot), among others. With their poor run of results lately, Max Christie urges the team to have a big sense of urgency.
“Nine in a row is nothing to be happy about,” Christie said via Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News. “There’s a sense of urgency, for sure. We gotta find a way to break that spell going into the break. We gotta rest, rejuvenate, and come back stronger.”
Christie was the Dallas Mavericks’ joint-leading scorer last night, as he and Naji Marshall produced 19 points apiece. PJ Washington and Brandon Williams added 18 and 17 points in the blowout defeat.
