One of the biggest storylines of the upcoming NBA Finals showdown between the Dallas Mavericks and the Boston Celtics is the relationship between Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. These two former teammates will now go toe-to-toe with one of them leaving this series with their first-ever career championship.

Naturally, both the media and the fans have been all over the compelling narrative surrounding the supposed beef between the two after Porzingis’ two-and-a-half years in Dallas didn’t exactly deliver the desired results.

Doncic has already broken his silence about the supposed bad blood between himself and Porzingis. According to the Mavs superstar, there’s just no truth to all these nasty rumors.

Luka was recently asked to share his thoughts on Porzingis’ failed stint in Dallas and why he believes it didn’t work out. Doncic did not have an explanation to give:

“I don’t really know,” he said. “I don’t know why it didn’t work out. We were still both young. We tried to make it work, but it just didn’t work, so we moved on.”

As we’ve seen many times in the NBA, not everything that looks good on paper works out. This was exactly the case for Doncic and Porzingis in Dallas. As Luka said, they just had to move on.

After a few years, the Mavs may have found Doncic’s perfect partner in Kyrie Irving. These two will be out to make more history starting on Thursday in Game 1.
