The Dallas Mavericks are off to an uneven start this season, and Klay Thompson’s steady decline has been one of the key reasons why. The four-time champion is averaging only 9.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists on 34.2 percent shooting from the field and a woeful 28.6 percent from three-point land.
Thompson’s slump continued against the Indiana Pacers, as he only had five points on 2-for-10 shooting from the field. After the game, Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd urged the former Splash Brother to keep on taking his shots.
“He’s gotta keep shooting, he’s a shooter,” Jason Kidd said of Thompson via ClutchPoints’ Joey Mistretta. “He’s been in this league for a long time. For him, it’s to continue to take these looks. He’s getting great looks, they are just not going down for him right now.”
Despite Thompson misfiring, the Dallas Mavericks secured a 107-105 win over the Indiana Pacers, as Brandon Williams came off the bench and scored a team-high 20 points on 9-for-14 shooting from the field. Dwight Powell, Cooper Flagg, D’Angelo Russell, and Max Christie added 18, 15, 14, and 10 points.

Dallas Mavericks supporters collectively held their breath when Anthony Davis exited last night’s game early due to an injury. He was seen reaching his left heel after a defensive play. It is worth noting that the one-time NBA champion has dealt with Achilles tendinopathy.
“Left lower leg soreness. He tried to return, didn’t want to take any chances. So, we’ll see how he feels going forward,” Kidd said about Davis via Noah Weber of FanSided.
Injuries are already becoming a concern for the Dallas Mavericks early this season, as Kyrie Irving, Daniel Gafford, and Dereck Lively II are among the players currently battling the injury bug.
