Dallas Mavericks fans haven’t moved on from the blockbuster trade that sent Luka Doncic, a favorite, to the Los Angeles Lakers. Although the Mavericks received Anthony Davis, who’s one of the best big men in the league, supporters of the Dallas franchise prefer the Slovenian star. Since then, they have protested that the organization should move on and fire Nico Harrison, the general manager.
Harrison is solely responsible for the decisions made by the franchise. According to multiple reports, the executive kept talking about sending Doncic to the Lakers exclusively to Rob Pelinka and himself. This made it easy for fans to point their finger at the 52-year-old.
Since then, fans have protested the team’s decision, even chanting “Fire Nico” during games.

However, one Mavericks player is tired of the behavior of the fans. Forward PJ Washington said that he and the rest of the team are tired of hearing and seeing the fan chants at games.
“At the end of the day the trades happened, we understand we have a new team now,” Washington said. “All that ‘fire Nico’ stuff, we’re just sick and tired of hearing it. We just want to go out and play and the fans to support us.”
Even with that, no one knows when the fans will stop with their chant regarding the firing on Harrison.
Dallas Mavericks guard addressed the “Fire Nico” chants

Max Christie, one of the players involved in the blockbuster deal, revealed his thoughts on the matter. According to the Dallas Mavericks guard, he thinks the chants aren’t pleasant to hear. However, he didn’t want to comment further on the situation between the organization and the fans.
“Definitely not pleasant to hear, but I can’t really comment much on that to be honest,” the former Lakers guard said.
“We’re professionals and our job is to come out here and perform regardless of the circumstances that we’re in,” Christie said. “We get paid a lot of money just to play basketball… We have things like that that may be distracting… It shouldn’t affect us. We’re professionals… Distractions are gonna be there, we gotta be able to move forward and move past them and not let those affect us.”

Since the trade, multiple things have not gone right for the Mavericks. They lost some of the most important players due to injury, including Kyrie Irving’s season-ending torn ACL. Additionally, Dallas’ dreams of making it to the postseason seem unachievable as they are 10th in the Western Conference standings with a 33-36 record.
