The Dallas Mavericks are still licking their wounds which they sustained from their crushing NBA Finals loss at the hands of the Boston Celtics.
Despite falling short of the ultimate goal last season, the Mavs can feel good about their deep playoff run which was significantly fueled by their bigs. Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford were both solid in the frontcourt for Dallas.

However, there is also a possibility in the offseason that the Mavericks would target another big man, with Gery Woelfel linking Dallas to veteran big man Brook Lopez of the Milwaukee Bucks.
While Brook Lopez is 36, the veteran center showed last season he still has plenty in his tank. Lopez averaged 12.5 points during the regular season before raising it to 17.7 points in the playoffs. He also ranked third in the league in blocked shots at 2.4 rejections a game. But multiple sources said the Bucks have made it known Lopez is available in a trade, and that a spate of teams are interested in his services.
Teams that could be in play for Lopez, sources said, are the Grizzles, Lakers, Thunder, Mavericks, Pelicans and Rockets. The Rockets heavily courted Lopez in free agency last summer before he decided to return to the Bucks.
Would Brook Lopez be a fit for the Dallas Mavericks?

has one more year remaining in his current contract which will pay him $23 million for the 2024-25 campaign. The former Stanford star could offer a lot to the Mavericks.
For one, he’s a much more polished offensive weapon than both Lively and Gafford. Lopez is a threat from deep, having made a decent 37.0 percent of his attempts from behind the arc in the last two seasons. That is on top of his great post-up game that Gafford and Lively don’t have in their arsenals.
