Damian Lillard’s injury when he was still with the Milwaukee Bucks is one of the most devastating news during the 2024-25 playoffs. He missed the latter part of the Bucks’ regular season games due to a deep vein thrombosis and was able to comeback in the second game of the playoffs against Indiana Pacers.

He was not 100 percent back then, gave his all, only for it to end in the most tragic way after going down on a non-contact injury. He was eventually ruled out for the rest of that playoffs and is expected to miss the whole 2025-26 season.
It did not stop there. The Bucks decided to waive him to be able to sign a multi-year deal for big man Myles Turner. It probably played out well for him as he found himself back with Portland Trailblazers.
Lillard always refuse to go down and four months after that injury, he is back doing locomotor activities again.
The Portland star posted an update of his rehab on X which includes him jogging and stepping on the basketball court again.

Plans for Damian Lillard in 2025-26 season
Lillard will be 36 when plays again for Portland and although he will not play a game in the 2025-26 season, head coach Chauncey Billups will make sure they will get something on the first year of his three-year $42 million contract.
The coach said he will be on the sidelines as his assistant coach.
“He’ll be back as good as ever, if you know anything about him,” Billups jokingly said during his introductory conference last July.

“This year, he’ll be the highest-paid assistant coach in history. I’ll be putting him to work every day.”
It will be hard to imagine Lillard returning early. His time with the Bucks already proved that rushing a return is dangerous.
