“I Think That They Should Name the Award After Y’all” – DeAndre Jordan Believes the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award Should Honor His Former Teammates

There have been discussions regarding the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award about which player it should be named after. According to Denver Nuggets center DeAndre Jordan, the award should be shared by his former teammates, Lou Williams and Jamal Crawford.

The topic of whose name should be on the trophy started when former NBA player Patrick Beverley said on X (formerly Twitter) that the award should be named after Manu Ginobili. However, Chandler Parsons argued that it should be someone who has won the award three times, someone like Williams or Crawford.

But Beverley insisted that the award should belong only to Ginobili. This started the conversation on Friday’s “Run It Back,” where Jordan agreed with Parsons and that the award should be named after the players who have won multiple times.

“I gotta say yeah because he’s my teammate,” Jordan said. “…I have said that about you before, you and Jamal. I think that they should name the award after y’all.”

Williams complained about the fact that he had to share the award. However, Jordan said that both players have won the award three times, which makes it valid for them to share the award.

“Y’all both have three, Lou. You guys both have three, I don’t know how else you want me to say that… It could by the Louis Crawford Sixth Man award. But you gotta say Louis.”

Williams won the award during the 2014-15, 2017-18 and 2018-19 NBA seasons. Among the two of them, he’s the only player who has won the award in back-to-back campaigns. Crawford, on the other hand, won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year in the 2009-10, 2013-14 and 2015-16 seasons.

Who has the highest odds to win the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award this season?

This season, there has been an increase in bench points from reserve players who aim to win the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award. The favorites to win the award are Boston Celtics’ Payton Pritchard, Golden State Warriors’ Buddy Hield, Indiana Pacers’ Bennedict Mathurin, Minnesota Timberwolves’ Naz Reid and Charlotte Hornets’ Tre Mann.

However, the player who stands out among the rest has been Pritchard. He’s played 27 games this season, averaging 16.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists. The undersized point guard has also shot 43% of his 3-pointers this season. It was a significant increase from last season as he only had 9.6 points and 3.4 assists.

With the way he’s played, he has a chance to win the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award.
