Dennis Schroder, who was recently traded out of the Golden State Warriors and to the Utah Jazz, faced backlash over his recent comments about how the trade system works in the NBA. Among the people who criticized him for his take was NBA legend and three-time Champion Ron Harper.
In his response to a news post quoting Dennis Schroder’s comment about the trading system, Harper had a short but candid response to the take.
“Stupid comment,” he said.

Schroder previously made a statement that likened the way player trading works in the NBA to “modern-day slavery,” and expressed his frustration over how players seemingly have no say when it comes to getting traded to a different team.
“It’s like modern slavery,” Schroder said. “It’s modern slavery at the end of the day. Everybody can decide where you’re going, even if you have a contract. Yeah, of course, we make a lot of money and we can feed our families, but at the end of the day if they say, ‘You’re not coming to work tomorrow, you’re going over there,’ they can decide that. They got to change that a little bit.”

Back when he was first traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Golden State Warriors, Dennis Schroder shared the excitement from his family over the news that he was going to the Bay Area, particularly his son who was giddy that his father was going to play with his favorite player, Steph Curry.
“My wife told him that we got traded, and he asked, ‘Where we going?’ And we said Golden State, and he was like, ‘Oh, we’re lucky! Now, at least it’s a good team,’” Schroder told the press. “That was the first thing, and I had to laugh and I was in a bad mood.”

“He’s a Steph Curry fan, we battled in London as well for the national team for the NBA showcase,” Schroder went on. “We got to see him there and then of course in Paris, he’s a big fan. He watches every game, all he does is basketball, and he’s gonna be thrilled to see him. Even when yesterday I came, he asked me if Steph Curry was there. I was like, ‘you’re not even going to ask how I’m doing?'”

Dennis Schroder played 24 games for the Golden State Warriors. During his time with the Warriors, he averaged 10.6 points per game, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists.
