Dennis Schroder had a heated take regarding the NBA’s trade system, dubbing it “modern slavery” this Tuesday. Schroder’s statement garnered reactions over social media, including one from rapper O’Shea Jackson Jr.
Schroder gave his words in response to the controversial trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis.
As a star player who was also traded to the Golden State Warriors back in December 2024, the German-Gambian player had something to say about the transaction dynamics within the league:
“It’s like modern slavery. It’s modern slavery at the end of the day. Everybody can decide where you’re going, even if you have a contract. Yeah, of course, we make a lot of money and we can feed our families, but at the end of the day if they say, ‘You’re not coming to work tomorrow, you’re going over there,’ they can decide that. They got to change that a little bit,” Schroder said on NBC Sports Bay Area.

Schroder added that NBA stars aren’t safe from trades, including his teammate, Stephen Curry, who’s in his 16th season with the Warriors.
“Not even Steph Curry’s safe probably when I see that. It’s a f––d up business,” Schroder added.
Schroder’s statement reached Jackson Jr., who shared NBA Central’s post and confusingly replied, “Bruh. What?”
Bruh. What?

Dennis Schroder averages 14.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 5.5 assists in his 24 games with the Warriors. They’ll play against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night, hoping to continue their previous win against Orlando.
Dennis Schroder eligible for trade in exchange for Kevin Durant
Dennis Schroder landed with the GS Warriors more than a month ago, but he may end this season in another team. Per NBA insider Marc J. Spears this Tuesday, the Warriors plan to use Schroder to acquire the Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant before Thursday’s trade deadline.

The Warriors had sought to bring back Durant, striving to achieve another championship under him. The team aims to acquire more stars but focuses on obtaining the Suns’ veteran forward.
“What helps them (the Warriors) a little bit tomorrow is Dennis Schroder is now available for trade. He has $13 million and now they could add him to a deal,” Spears said on X/Twitter.

Dennis Schroder was traded to the Warriors in December for De’Anthony Melton, Reece Beckman, and draft picks. However, Schroder is struggling under Steve Kerr’s administration; he’s averaging lower than 18.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 6.6 assists at the Brooklyn Nets.
