Paul Pierce Gets 100% Real on What Makes Denver Nuggets So Tough To Beat

Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce knows a thing or two about winning in the league. But when it came to the Denver Nuggets, the current NBA analyst got real on what makes them so hard to beat.

The Nuggets ended last season by bringing home the first championship in franchise history. After finishing the regular season with a record of 53 wins and 29, losses, the Nikola Jokic-led squad went through the Western Conference Playoffs and defeated the Miami Heat in the Finals to make history.

This season, it was more of the same as the front office maintained the same core of Jokic, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, and Michael Porter Jr. The result was a 57-25 record, which placed them second in the West and positioned the team to face LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round.

In that series, the Nuggets committed fewer turnovers and grabbed way more offensive rebounds to eliminate the Lakers in five games. Their current matchup against Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves is now tied after losing the first two games to them recently. With momentum on their side now, it’ll be hard to bet against the defending champions.

NBA Legend Paul Pierce Reveals What Makes the Denver Nuggets So Hard To Beat

For some, it’s not hard to see Denver as heavy-favorites to win the championship this year. For Pierce, though, the NBA legend revealed what makes them so hard to defeat in a tweet he posted on X:

“Denver’s style of play is tough to beat I saw Championship level Basketball from them tonight @undisputed tune in tomorrow,” Pierce tweeted.

Even though Jokic acts as his team’s primary engine on offense, he can still lead Denver to a win without relying too much on his scoring. His ability to draw defenses to him while creating plays for his teammates isn’t easy to figure out. The team’s combined effort on defense and ability to drain buckets on the offensive end are also putting opposing teams at their wit’s end during the playoffs.

Now that their series against Minnesota is tied, the Nuggets can continue what they’re doing to win. If they keep this up, Pierce will be proven right with how effective Denver has been in this year’s playoffs.
