Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray reminded everyone that Nikola Jokic is still the best player in the NBA, following last night’s pulsating 142-138 overtime win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
To Murray’s point, Jokic had 56 points, 16 rebounds, 15 assists, two blocks, and four three-pointers on 15-for-21 shooting from the field and 22-for-23 shooting from the charity stripe. The Denver Nuggets center became the first player in NBA history to drop a 50-point triple-double on Christmas.
“I don’t think we talk about how clutch Jok is enough. I may make big shots throughout my career, but we go to him consistently to get there,” Murray said of Jokic via DNVR Nuggets. “Shoutout to Jok. He’s always been that guy.”
“He’s the best player in the world, man. It’s the bottom line,” head coach David Adelman added. “What he does nightly is just important to the game of basketball. It’s good for sports, good for his head coach.”

Denver Nuggets News: Nikola Jokic shares nonchalant reaction to win vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves forced overtime, as Anthony Edwards hit a ridiculous three-pointer with 1.1 seconds. With Minnesota threatening to run away early in overtime after back-to-back baskets by Edwards, it was Nikola Jokic’s timely shots that saved the Denver Nuggets.
“Don’t get too high, don’t get too low. Just try to control what you can control,” Jokic said of his approach. “In those minutes, just stay composed. Believe in your team and in yourself… I had a good game, of course. I don’t know what I’m going to look back and say.”
Jokic received plenty of help from his supporting cast. Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray had 35 points, 10 rebounds, and nine three-pointers on 12-for-32 shooting from the field in 42 minutes of action. Tim Hardaway Jr. and Spencer Jones also held their own in the starting unit with 19 and 12 points, respectively.
