When the Denver Nuggets went 0-2 against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round, many thought that it’d be difficult for the Denver Nuggets to come back to this. Anthony Edwards and the rest of the Wolves were firing in all cylinders, and it seemed like the Nuggets didn’t have any reply to Chris Finch’s tactics.

However, Mike Malone, Nikola Jokic, and the rest of the roster took three straight games against the Timberwolves. Jokic showed everyone why he’s the three-time MVP with his play. He was especially unstoppable in Game 5, where he was three rebounds shy of a triple-double.

While there are analysts who still refuse to change their minds about the Nuggets, there are people who are more amenable to new information. Stephen A. Smith is one such character.

While he was one with the choir when the Timberwolves took two straight games on Denver’s court, he eventually changed his mind on the Nuggets after their most recent performance.

During the Wednesday episode of First Take, the seasoned broadcaster took the opportunity to address the Nuggets and their fanbase about his opinion on the team earlier in the series.

    Per The Spun’s Matt Hladik:

“If Denver wins this series, if Denver ends up going to the Finals…not only am I going to go on [Mark Schlereth’s] radio show, I might personally go on a damn apology tour throughout the city of Denver,” Smith said. “That’s how embarrassed I am by what I have seen Minnesota do over these last three games. It’s been bad, Perk. It’s been bad.

“I’m looking at Denver, if they overcome this, I’ve got to be like a politician in Denver. ‘I’m sorry. I’m sorry, please forgive me.’ That’s what I’ve got to do throughout the city of Denver,” Smith continued. “That’s what I’m gonna have to do! This is embarrassing!”

Imagining Smith going to every Denver Nuggets fan to apologize is an entertaining idea, no matter how unlikely it’ll happen. However, it just proves just how great of an opponent the Nuggets are managing to overpower at the moment.

Jokic is doing a great job leading the Nuggets with his 29.4 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 9.2 assists a game. Aaron Gordon is pitching in with his 17.4 points, and Murray is slowly bouncing back with his 16.8 points.

The three are doing the worst on Minnesota as they struggle to figure out how to stop Jokic and his Nuggets. As long as the team continues to buy in and trust their star center, back-to-back Western Conference Finals trips is possible for them.
