Derrick Rose’s NBA career may be short but Chicago Bulls made sure to give his legacy the highest of honor by retiring his jersey on Saturday. The Bulls community come in full force to pay tribute to the 2011 Most Valuable Player.

Among those present to witness the raising of Rose’s no. 1 jersey to the rafters were Luol Dieng, Taj Gibson, Joakim Noah who made up the core of their competitive years as well as their coach then Tom Thibodeau.
Many people thought Rose’s career downfall started in Round 1 of the 2012 playoffs when he suffered a season-ending torn left ACL. The game, which was against the Philadelphia 76ers, was already concluded with them on the winning side. However, Rose was still on the floor when Thibodeau should have decided to get him out.
The coach, who’s without a team this season, is being blamed by some fans but Rose will have none of it.
“They look at Thibs as the injury. I’m here to say f*ck that,” Rose said during his speech for his jersey retirement.

“Thibs was the 1st coach who made me feel special…I used to do sh*t in games just to make sure he saw on tape.”
Derrick Rose got jokes
The 2011 MVP then proceeded to play around and roast Thibodeau.
“Thibs, you may have went to Harvard, you may have done physics, but I showed you physics.”

Thibodeau also showed love to his former player.
“He showed everyone what it takes to be a great Chicago Bull and a great man…The next stop, in my opinion, is the Hall of Fame––and there is no doubt about that. Thank you Derrick…Love you”
