Orlando Magic guard Desmond Bane only got a technical foul in the immediate aftermath of his actions against the New York Knicks on Sunday when he threw the ball at OG Anunoby. The NBA decided he should be punished more than that.

The league has announced that it is fining Bane $35,000 for the act and called it an unsportsmanlike foul. It is now a double whammy for him as his team lost that game, 100-106.

The Magic player’s actions earned condemnation around the league with some saying he has no business firing the ball towards OG. Even former NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins thinks it was a crazy play and warranted revenge.

“I’m not saying punch him the in the face, but maybe slap the sh*t out of him. That’s crazy,” Cousins said in the Run it Back show.
As for Anunoby, he does not think much of it.
“I should have caught it,” he said when asked as quoted by Clutch Points.
Desmond Bane brought toughness to Magic?
Bane is a three-point shooter but he is embracing the villain arc. Before the Anunoby play, he was also criticized for dangerous play against the Atlanta Hawks in the game before.
This development is welcomed by former veteran and commentator Jeff Teague.
Orlando Magic Legend Jeff Teague on Desmond Bane:
“I kind of Fu*k with it.”
“What I’m saying is he’s finally bringing some toughness to the Magic.” https://t.co/qsQFG4A766 pic.twitter.com/bSTdPXvc0Q

This take, however, does not sit well with some Magic fans who think they are erasing Jalen Suggs role.
I love Teague and his guys, but the Orlando Magic’s entire identity has been rooted in grittiness and toughness, with Jalen Suggs being at the core of that
Yes, Desmond Bane adds another layer and more edge
But the Magic have had toughness in spades already https://t.co/mUOon8Ltuz pic.twitter.com/DyTcjFcRDR
