The Detroit Pistons have not been to the NBA Playoffs since 2019. But they are on the verge of breaking that cold spell, thanks in large part to the incredible season star point guard Cade Cunningham is having.
On Wednesday night, Cunningham added to his stellar campaign when he sank a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer against the Miami Heat on the road. Cunningham’s shot gave Detroit a 116-113 victory – and his team’s 39th win of the campaign.
This season feels just different for Cunningham and the Pistons. It’s been a while since Detroit played this well while also establishing itself as a legitimate playoff contender.

For Cunningham, his latest highlight feels like it’s just part of a journey to something bigger for him and the Pistons.
Via Hunter Patterson of The Athletic:
Asked Cade Cunningham if tonight’s game winner felt like the culmination of everything he’s been through thus far in the league.
“Yeah, it does. It’s still early, though. I still feel like there’s so much to do. There’s so much that I haven’t experienced.”

Also stepping up for the Pistons in the Miami game was Malik Beasley, who came off the bench and fired 16 points on the strength of a 5-for-10 shooting from behind the arc. Jalen Duren had a double-double of 15 points and 11 boards while Ausar Thompson added 14 points.
