Detroit Pistons swingman Ausar Thompson recently raved about teammate Cade Cunningham during the latest episode of The Young Man & the Three podcast.

While talking to his twin brother, Amen, who plays for the Houston Rockets, Thompson detailed what most people “don’t understand” about the Detroit Pistons star.

“I think he’s like 6’8”, 6’7”, 6’8” —I don’t know. He is so strong. That’s what people don’t understand. I’ll never forget — we played ones with him before last year,” Thompson said about Cunningham’s most overlooked trait.

“He posted me up from the three-point line all the way under the basket. I fouled him. Then he went and did the same thing. It’s like — if you stop him getting to the basket, and if you stop him with his face forward — he could just get to something else. He has so many things he could do. You really have to study him and learn every way to stop him,” he added.

Detroit Pistons News: Ausar Thompson expected to “take a leap” this upcoming season, per analyst

After qualifying for the playoffs and pushing the New York Knicks to six games in the first round last season, the Detroit Pistons strengthened their roster with the additions of Duncan Robinson, Caris LeVert, and Javonte Green.

The Detroit Pistons could emerge as the dark horse contenders in the Eastern Conference this upcoming season, as they have built an intriguing young core, which includes Ausar Thompson.

“As for Tier 5, there’s a ton of potential here,” The Athletic’s Zach Harper recently wrote. “With Ausar entering the season healthy, let’s see if he can emulate his brother Amen’s leap.”
