The Detroit Pistons completed a sign-and-trade deal with the Miami Heat, which saw Simone Fontecchio and Duncan Robinson switch places, and Robinson is excited to be with his new team.

The 31-year-old sharpshooter recently talked to the media about his thoughts on the Detroit Pistons’ project during his trip to Las Vegas to watch the NBA 2K26 Summer League.

“It’s a great blend of super ambitious young guys, some guys that have been through it before as well,” Robinson said via Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press. “I’m just excited to be a part of it for sure. It’s been sort of a whirlwind, but it’s been a fun couple of weeks.”

Robinson is coming off a decent 2024-25 campaign with the Miami Heat, having averaged 11.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists on 44/39/89 shooting splits in 74 regular season appearances (37 starts).

Former Detroit Pistons star has bold prediction for the 2025-26 season

Grant Hill believes that the Detroit Pistons can build on their success from last season, especially with the Eastern Conference being wide open, considering the injuries to Indiana Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton and Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum.

“With the injuries, the roster changing in Boston, and then certainly a really talented Pacers team,” Hill said on RG Media. “But also the injury to Haliburton. There was a window there. New York’s there.”

“I think Detroit has an opportunity to take a step as well and be one of the better teams next season in the Eastern Conference,” he added.
