Super teams are virtually a thing of the past now in the NBA but that does not mean players don’t recruit each other. Nikola Jokic hardly say anything about the Denver Nuggets squad construction but looks like that is changing as Miami Heat forward Nikola Jovic revealed that he and the three-time MVP are talking.

Jovic and Jokic are both Serbians and play for the national team. The former made the revelation hours before the match between their teams on Wednesday.
“We talk about a lot of stuff. He was mad because I signed the extension. He wanted me in Denver,” Jovic said.
The Heat power forward was, of course, just joking and Jokic should not be subjected to league investigation for tampering.
Jovic said they remain connected throughout the season as there are only few of them in the league who were born from Serbia.
“But, yeah, we talk. Nothing crazy, not much. But we make sure that we stay in touch and we stick by each other because there’s not a lot of us Serbian players around the NBA.”

Nikola Jovic on Nikola Jokic:
“He was mad because I signed the extension. He wanted me in Denver… He always makes fun of me because we haven’t won a game in the regular season against them for so long… I got to try and help this team to win… I can’t stand him talking trash… pic.twitter.com/r4ViCbqfIq

Jovic wants to beat Nikola Jokic
What he does not approve of though is the fact that Heat hasn’t won against Nuggets since their 2023 NBA Finals encounter and Jokic rubbing it in him.
And so, he has a special mission whenever facing the Joker.
“He always makes fun of me because we haven’t really won a game in regular season vs them in a long time. So yeah, I got to help this team win this game because I can’t stand him talking too much trash.”

Jovic was a rookie in the 2022-2023 season as the Heat’s 27th overall pick and played just 15 games in the regular season.
He has been getting more playing time this season averaging 21 minutes and 8.7 points per game.
