There wasn’t much time for pleasantries after Friday night’s WNBA battle between the Indiana Fever and Dallas Wings. But just as Dallas star Paige Bueckers was walking off the floor, she caught a quick, unexpected moment with someone courtside—Kai Trump, granddaughter of former U.S. President Donald Trump.
No cameras staged it. No security blocked it. Just a simple handshake.
Kai reached out as Bueckers passed near the tunnel, and even after a tough loss, Paige stopped, smiled, and shook her hand. It wasn’t some grand headline moment—but it was enough to get fans talking. A small gesture, but one that stuck.
Kai had a front-row seat to a thriller. The Fever, even without Caitlin Clark, held on for a 94–86 win thanks to a monster performance from Kelsey Mitchell, who dropped 32 points, dished out 7 assists, and pulled down 3 boards. Aliyah Boston was right there with her, adding 21 points and a bit of everything else.

On the other side, Bueckers didn’t disappoint. She led all scorers with 27 and handed out 6 assists in what’s becoming a strong rookie campaign. Arike Ogunbowale added 15, but the Wings ran out of gas late.

Still, that quick postgame moment between Paige and Kai was the type of thing you don’t see in the box score. It was just… real. No drama. No PR spin. Just a tired hooper sharing a second with a young fan from a famous family.
Donald Trump Hits the Golf Course Ahead of ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ Debate
While Kai was soaking up WNBA action, her grandfather, US President Donald Trump, was out doing what he seems to enjoy most—playing golf.
Donald Trump spent part of the weekend at his Northern Virginia club, getting a round in with CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Senators Eric Schmitt, Rand Paul, and Lindsey Graham. All this while Capitol Hill readies for a major debate on what Trump calls the “Big Beautiful Bill.”

Critics were quick to point out the irony, especially since Trump once went after Obama for golfing during crunch time. But with summer rolling in and July 4th coming up, he didn’t seem too concerned.

So while Paige Bueckers and the Fever gave fans something to cheer about on the court, the former president was teeing off—literally. Same name, different playing fields.
