US President Donald Trump has been linked by ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith to cracking down on professional sports leagues. However, for analyst and critic Jason Whitlock, Smith’s words on the issue should not be taken seriously.
In a post on X, Jason Whitlock called out Stephen A. Smith and, in turn, his fan base, for propping up what he described as the analyst’s “clown show.”

“An NBA coach was arrested in a gambling scheme that involved mafia crime families, and Stephen A’s takeaway is ‘Trump is coming,’” Whitlock said in his post. “When will conservative influencers quit propping up Stephen A Smith? Clown show.”

Fans who commented under Whitlcok’s post also shared their input on the matter, with some joining him in calling out the ESPN analyst.
“Smith is neck deep in this controversy,” one fan noted.
“Stephen A. linking Trump to an NBA mafia bust?” one fan said. “That’s wild. Dude spins every story into a political slam dunk. Bet he skips the sports side for that hot take every time.”
For one fan, the allegations of rigging and fixing are something that must be looked at in relation to the trend of load management.
“This is going to seriously call into question the way the NBA allows ‘load management’ of its star players,” they said. “So many times they will announce 30 minutes before a game that an All-Star is sitting out despite being perfectly healthy.”
Some fans, on the other hand, have theorized that Smith may know something more than he is letting on.
Donald Trump Defended By Advisor, FBI Director
In a post on X, Alex Bruesewitz, one of the advisors for President Donald Trump, called Stephen A. Smith’s claims of the President coming for the NAB and the WNBA as “incredibly stupid.”

“Don’t get me wrong, I like Stephen A. Smith,” he said. “I agree with a lot of what he says. But every once in a while, he says something so incredibly stupid. This is one of those times. This NBA investigation started four years ago during the Biden administration. Trump had nothing to do with it.”

Meanwhile, FBI Director Kash Patel called Smith’s bold claims one of the “dumbest” things he has heard.
“I’m the FBI director,” Patel said, when asked. “I decide which arrests to conduct and which not to conduct. That may be the single dumbest thing I’ve ever heard out of anyone in modern history, and I live most of my time in Washington, D.C.”

So far, President Donald Trump has not commented on the matter.
