US President Donald Trump’s reaction to the death of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife has stirred anger, including from Sophie Cunningham’s podcast co‑host, West Wilson.
Reiner, 78, and his wife, 68, were found stabbed to death in their Los Angeles home on Sunday. Trump called it “a very sad thing,” but quickly shifted tone, labeling Reiner a victim of “Trump Derangement Syndrome” and saying the director drove people “crazy” with his “Trump obsession.”

Wilson didn’t hold back. On Instagram he wrote, “I’m so f***ing tired of this douche bag.”
Cunningham herself has stayed quiet, though she’s busy with her own career moves. The WNBA free agent recently signed with Project B, a new women’s league offering salaries up to $2 million, while still expected to rejoin the Indiana Fever in 2026 if a new CBA is reached.
“I was not a fan of Rob Reiner at all in any way”: Trump Doubles Down Despite Criticism
Wilson wasn’t alone. Even some Republicans, like Rep. Thomas Massie, criticized Donald Trump’s post as insensitive. The clash isn’t new—Reiner had long been one of Trump’s harshest Hollywood critics, often using interviews and social media to hammer his policies.

Pressed by reporters, Trump doubled down: “Well, I wasn’t a fan of his at all. He became like a deranged person. Trump derangement syndrome. So, I was not a fan of Rob Reiner at all in any way, shape or form. I thought he was very bad for our country.”
Reiner, known for classics like When Harry Met Sally and A Few Good Men, was also a vocal activist. His death shocked Hollywood, with tributes pouring in from colleagues who remembered his storytelling and outspoken voice.
The tragedy took another turn when Reiner’s son, Nick, was arrested and charged with two counts of first‑degree murder.
