U.S. President Donald Trump got blasted by ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith, who boldly accused the President of coming after the WNBA, in light of recent arrests that involved a coach and a player from the NBA.
However, entrepreneur and co-owner of Trending Politics Collin Rugg shut down the claims made by Smith. In a post on X, Rugg simply dismissed Smith’s claims by saying that the President might now even know about the women’s basketball league.

“I’m confident the Trump admin doesn’t even know that the WNBA exists,” Rugg said in his post.

So far, Donald Trump has not shown any direct interest in the WNBA, and has not even mentioned the league in any of his statements about any sport. However, fans have linked the women’s league at one point due to the President’s stance on issues such as LGBTQIA+ and the topic of abortion, something that players from the WNBA have been vocal about.
FBI Director kash Patel was also asked about his take on Smith’s accusation that Trump is going after the NBA and other sports leagues, something he called as one of the “dumbest” things he has come across.
“I’m the FBI director,” Patel said, when asked. “I decide which arrests to conduct and which not to conduct. That may be the single dumbest thing I’ve ever heard out of anyone in modern history, and I live most of my time in Washington, D.C.”
Patel also commented on how Smith’s analysis lacked legal depth and failed to recognize the broader risks of gambling-related misconduct in professional sports. He also suggested that Smith’s influence could sway public perception in ways that undermine the integrity of ongoing investigations.
Donald Trump Once Called The NBA “Highly Political”
There is no doubt that Donald Trump is a huge baseball fan. While he has not been a vocal fan of football, Trump also once attended a Super Bowl game. However, the President has not been a recorded fan of basketball so far.
In fact, in 2020, Trump once posted on X about his feelings towards the NBA, which he claimed had become “highly political,” resulting in its ratings dipping.

“People are tired of watching the highly political NBA,” Trump posted. “Basketball ratings are WAY down, and they won’t be coming back. I hope football and baseball are watching and learning because the same thing will be happening to them. Stand tall for our Country and our Flag!!!”
