Preparing for the season always gets the blood flowing, the skills sharpened, and your willpower re-tested. But what all players could use during times that they need it is a sharp morale boost.

Donovan Mitchell has done exactly that as he gets ready for battle with a little added prize in his mind: his fiancée, Coco Jones. In what seems to be a rare glimpse into his personal and love life, he’s just as good a social media boyfriend as he is physically.

“Man, that’s my dog. I love her to death,” Donovan Mitchell said. “She’s amazing. She’s an amazing human being. She brings me peace.”

After the couple announced their engagement, Donovan Mitchell hasn’t exactly been quiet about his lovelife. In fact, he’s so proud that he’s letting as many people know what she meant to him.

“She’s a special human and you see it in her work, and to be able to call her my fiancée, my wife, is a blessing. So, I’m grateful,” Mitchell added.

While the true effects of his added morale remain to be seen in numbers, we can say for certain that Donovan Mitchell is after the grind and the reward that comes with it. And we can all see his nature desire to win it all. The NBA fandom may have Donovan Mitchell as just another player, but for Coco, he’s her everything right now.

Donovan Mitchell says Lonzo Ball trade could change Cavaliers’ season

Donovan Mitchell didn’t hold back when asked about the Cleveland Cavaliers pulling off a surprise move to land Lonzo Ball. For Mitchell, it’s not just about adding another guard—it’s about bringing in someone who could help the team on both ends of the floor.

“Big time. He’s a guy that sees the floor naturally. He’s a defender,” Donovan Mitchell said on Media Day on Monday. “We came into the league together, same draft class, and he’s always been a pest defensively because of his knowledge, his IQ. His cerebral part of the game, I think, will help us a lot.”

Mitchell has played with plenty of guards during his career, but his words suggest a unique respect for Ball’s style. Having entered the league in 2017 together, the two share a familiarity that could speed up chemistry in Cleveland.

For the Cavaliers, who are pushing to climb the Eastern Conference ladder, this kind of addition might be the difference in going from good to great. And with Donovan Mitchell speaking this highly of the move, it signals real belief that the Cavs could take another step forward.
