Coco Jones has finally cleared up the rumors about how she and NBA star Donovan Mitchell got together. And it turns out, Russell Wilson and Ciara’s role wasn’t quite what fans thought.

Appearing on Sherri Shepherd’s show, Jones explained that while the celebrity couple did have a hand in the proposal, they weren’t the ones who brought her and Donovan Mitchell together.

“Russell and Donovan had talked about him proposing to me,” Jones told Shepherd. “He connected Don with this planner who helped him plan this whole thing, it was beautiful…but we actually met outside of them.”

For weeks, fans believed Ciara had played matchmaker, given the couples’ friendship and mutual admiration. But Jones’ comments made it clear that her and Mitchell’s love story began on its own.

Still, Donovan Mitchell fans were quick to praise the behind-the-scenes teamwork from Wilson, calling it “peak gentleman behavior.” Others simply admired how personal and intimate the couple’s story turned out to be — no PR, no Hollywood setups, just two people who clicked naturally.

Proposals are always the mark of the willingness of the couple to move forward to the next stage. It does not guarantee what the future hold for them, but right at this moment, Donovan Mitchell knows that he’s just right where he wants and needs to be. All of the other details, as clarified by Coco Jones, is just secondary to this fact and the fans.

Donovan Mitchell Opens Up About Fiancée Coco Jones: “She Brings Me Peace”

While the internet buzzed over the details of their engagement, Donovan Mitchell himself had nothing but heartfelt words for his fiancée, Coco Jones.

In a recent interview, the Cleveland Cavaliers guard couldn’t stop smiling as he described his relationship with the singer and actress.

“That’s my dawg. I love her to death. She’s amazing. She’s an amazing human being. She brings me peace,” Mitchell said. “She is a special human and you see it in her work. To be able to call her my fiancée, my wife, is a blessing. I’m grateful.”

A person’s career may define who they are and what they do and where they get their livelihood, but it definitely does not and cannot be the sole definition of their character and their quality. Donovan Mitchell is happy where he is and the support system that exists for and with his growth.

Fans may debate trade rumors and playoff expectations all they want, but at least for now, Donovan Mitchell has made it clear where his heart truly belongs.
