A supposed Nets insider dropped a bomb on social media claiming Michael Porter Jr. is heading to Golden State Warriors in a blockbuster trade.

The anonymous source declared MPJ becoming a Warrior is a done deal, just a matter of working out pick protections. The majority of the NBA community lost their mind with a handful of fans immediately questioning the legitimacy.
NBA Fans Mock Nets’ Gamble on Michael Porter Jr.
The insider’s post stated the Warriors and Nets are haggling over draft protections in a three-team deal. Sacramento would land Jonathan Kuminga, while Brooklyn gets picks and salary filler.
But multiple credible reports, ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel and The Stein Line’s Jake Fischer, have stated the Nets have zero interest in Kuminga, making the whole thing sound fishy from the jump.
Meanwhile, Porter Jr. is cooking at an All-Star level, which started all that wild trade chatter behind the scenes. The 27-year-old wing is dropping career highs across the board with 25.9 points, 7.4 boards, and 3.4 assists per game.
Per some reports, the Warriors have internally discussed adding Porter, but Brooklyn’s asking price is steep. Sources told NBC Sports Bay Area’s Dalton Johnson the price could be two first-round picks, Kuminga, and additional salary pieces.
I’m hearing MPJ is a golden state warrior. It’s when, not if. They’re going back and forth over pick protections.
3rd team is the Kings taking Kuminga.
My source hasn’t been wrong yet. We’ll see if they get this done💭 pic.twitter.com/1gRFQqW5qv

That’s quite a hefty haul for a player making $38.3 million this season. And noise around the trade intensifies as Kuminga becomes eligible to be dealt on January 15. Multiple reports confirm he’s unhappy with his role in Golden State and wants out.
But bridging the gap between the Warriors’ requirements and what Brooklyn is willing to accept remains the biggest obstacle till now. Both franchises are far apart, with Brooklyn preferring young players like Coby White or picks from other teams rather than betting on Kuminga’s uneven play.
Fans Roast Nets-Warriors Trade Rumor
Folks on social media wasted no time torching the insider’s claims, immediately calling cap on the whole situation, questioning whether this source had any real connections.
One fan wrote, “Don’t b lying bro.”
Another added, “He’s so good and such an all star player that the Nets don’t even want him. Marks knows the future for this guy and he’s selling high.”
A third claimed, “MAGA Mike would surely piss off Steve Kerr. I don’t see it ever happening.”
The fourth one penned, “Nah man if MPJ gets traded every single one of those picks coming back need to be unprotected. Warriors don’t get to play hardball letting them add protections is just gonna let them shamelessly tank when they have to pay up.”
A fifth fan added, “Yeah yall don’t deserve sh–. Disgraceful fanbase.”
Concerns focus on Porter’s politics and his health. He’s been outspoken about conservative views and vaccine skepticism, which could put him at odds with Steve Kerr, who has been vocal about progressive causes, criticized Donald Trump, and pushed for gun control.
There are also medical questions. Porter missed his entire rookie season after back surgery and has dealt with back issues throughout his career. He’s stayed mostly healthy the past two seasons, but teams remain wary of his long-term durability.
It will be interesting to see how things unfold in the coming days with the trade deadline less than one month away.
