The journey of Derrick Rose in the NBA is one of the more emotional stories in the NBA. After being selected first overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 2008 NBA Draft, he immediately won Rookie of the Year and became a fan favorite. In his third season, he was named the youngest MVP in the league. However, knee injuries hindered him from reaching his true potential.
Rose is now retired and the Bulls have announced that they plan to retire his No. 1 jersey number next season. With that in mind, being inducted into the Hall of Fame is usually the next step for retired basketball stars. However, with his short prime, there is a level of uncertainty among fans and experts alike regarding the matter.

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green gave his take on the matter on the Wednesday episode of his podcast, “The Draymond Green Show.” According to Green, Rose’s lone MVP award is enough for him to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
“Just a big fan of D-Rose, how he carried the city of Chicago, that’s Chicago’s heartbeat right there,” Green said. “That’s Chicago’s son.
“The questions on, ‘Is D-Rose a Hall of Famer if he not?’ If you win MVP in the NBA, you’re a Hal of Famer. I don’t care if you played one year. If you played one year in the NBA and you win MVP… ‘Is Derrick Rose a Hall of Famer?’ Stop it, it’s ridiculous.”
Rose became one of the finest players in Bulls history during his seven seasons in Chicago. He averaged 19.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 6.2 assists as a three-time All-Star.
Former NBA star recalls his encounter with the Bulls legend

When Rose arrived in the league former NBA star Baron Davis was with the Los Angeles Clippers. While he wasn’t the same star as he used to be, Davis was still a reliable starting point guard. However, he was caught off guard when he encountered the Bulls guard, who posted him up down the block.
“This dude was just — he was amazing,” Davis said. “I didn’t get a chance to play against him as much as I wanted to. But I did catch him when I was like, ‘I’m that guy.’
“I’ll never forget, down in the stretch of the game, the fool was posting me up. They was throwing it to him on the block. He got two buckets on me and I looked at him and I said, ‘Who are you?’ And I’ve been on the iso, guarding T-Mac, guarding Kobe down the stretch, Iverson. But I ain’t never really had nobody clear out and post me on the short corner and it’s a guard.”

Like Davis, other stars were surprised by what Rose was capable of on the court. While it didn’t last long, his opponents will remember it for a long time.
