At 34 years old, Draymond Green has played his entire NBA career with the Golden State Warriors and has tremendously helped in securing four championships. Now that the four-time NBA All-Star is at the tail end of his career, he knows on the business side of the game that he can also be traded.
Knowing this, as a former Michigan State Spartan, Green hopes he will be sent to the Detroit Pistons if a trade does happen. This thought was revealed by the former NBA Defensive Player of the Year in a recent interview on Jeff Teague’s podcast, “Club 520.”
“I pray to God if [the Warriors] ever feel the need to get rid of me– If they [are] going to send me to any non-winning organization, then send me to Detroit,” said Green to Teague. “That’s the crib– I much rather it be Detroit than Charlotte.”

Coming from a championship-cultured team like the Golden State Warriors, many would find it odd that Green would select a rebuilding team like the Pistons as his preferred trade destination. Thinking twice about his logic, he has already accomplished a lot in his NBA career and would just like to play near his hometown in Saginaw, Michigan.
Entering the 2024–25 season, Green has a three-year, $77.6 million contract, and it will be interesting to see if the Pistons entertain the thought of absorbing the price that it would take to bring home the Michigan native.

Draymond Green ‘happy’ to see Klay Thompson depart the Golden State Warriors
This upcoming season, the Golden State Warriors won’t have Klay Thompson on the roster after a turmoil of trade rumors. The other half of the ‘Splash Brothers’ will play for the Dallas Mavericks instead, teaming up with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
Just like Green and Steph Curry, Thompson has spent his entire NBA career with the Warriors and many of the team’s fans are disheartened that their core player of the four NBA championships they won will leave the squad.
More so is that Green expressed his honest reaction on Thompson’s departure, going on record to say that he is ‘happy’ to see him go.
“The reason I’m happy he’s gone is because he wasn’t happy no more. As a brother, I only want what’s best for you, not what’s best for me, not what’s best for this team,” said Green on Club 520.
