Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green let everyone know how excited he is to see Luka Doncic‘s new look. Doncic took some time this summer to ensure he was healthy and prepared for the 2025–2026 NBA season. The Los Angeles Lakers‘ star guard is trying his best to change the narrative around him and his conditioning, which has been the biggest subject of criticism.

In a recent interview with Men’s Health, Doncic claimed that he wasted no time in getting his body in shape. He was in the gym after the Lakers were eliminated in the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves. From there, he stayed conditioned, even carefully executing a strict gluten-free, low-sugar diet.

As photos of Doncic went viral on various social media platforms, Draymond Green showed his support for the Slovenian star on Threads.

“Luka is looking like rookie Luka all over again. The Trade has created that hunger again it seems! 🔥🔥” Green posted on the social media platform.

“Also the perfect year to go win his 1st MVP award. Going right from Euros to training camp. Will already be in basketball shape and can hit the ground running! Coming off Team USA summers would make for the best situations coming into the season for me,” he added.

Green also put up a poll on his profile, asking fans how Doncic will end the next season: with his first MVP award or another First-Team All-NBA selection. As of this writing, 45% of his followers voted that the five-time All-Star will win another All-NBA award, while 39% voted for the Most Valuable Player win.

The remaining 16% don’t think he’ll be recognized for either award.

The Dallas Mavericks trading away Luka Doncic was the most shocking thing that happened in the NBA last season. One of the main reasons he was traded was that the front office questioned his work ethic and his inconsistent conditioning. Many fans believe that the Mavericks were delusional for trading one of the best talents in the league.

On Threads, an NBA fan pointed out how there were questions about Doncic’s conditioning when he was with the Mavericks. However, the five-time All-NBA proved them wrong when he landed with the Lakers. Draymond Green stepped in and gave his take on what happened.

“Does Luka have that same fire if not traded from Dallas? Nico can be right and his thinking and end up wrong in the end, because he doesn’t play the game and Luka is one of the greatest talents we have seen. But it doesn’t just mean s**t on Nico either,” Green replied.

Even with what has happened, both sides look determined to move on from each other and focus on the future. The Lakers have made it clear that Doncic is the face of their franchise, while the Mavericks hit the jackpot after the trade and acquired the No. 1 pick, Cooper Flagg.
