The Golden State Warriors are reportedly engaged in active trade discussions involving veteran forward Draymond Green. His future with the franchise has recently come into question following the Warriors’ growing interest in acquiring Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
To make the finances of a potential deal work, the Warriors would need to include either Green or Jimmy Butler in the package. Reports indicate that the organization has made it clear Butler is not available, which has effectively placed Green at the center of trade conversations.
Amid the uncertainty surrounding his future, Green recently opened up about his desire to share the court with the Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James.

“I’ve always wanted to [play with him],” Green said. “Saying I wanted to go to his team, that’s not the case. I’m very comfortable in my situation with 30 [Curry] and what we’ve built and what we have. But I think him and Steph shared the want to take the court together, and they got the opportunity to do that in the Olympics in Paris.
“I’ve always wanted the opportunity. Just to experience it, to see how he thinks, to see, all right, what I could do to help him and his thinking. Or what can I learn and pick up about what he’s thinking.”
LeBron and Green once shared a fierce on-court rivalry during James’ Cleveland tenure. However, over the years, that intensity evolved into mutual respect and eventually friendship. Off the court, the two have been spotted together on several occasions, including when they entertained NBA fans by attending a Bad Bunny concert in Puerto Rico last July.
Draymond Green Reflects on His Warriors Journey
Following the Warriors’ 113-94 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, speculation quickly surfaced about whether Green had just played his final game in a Warriors uniform. In the post-game press conference, the defensive anchor reflected emotionally on what a potential departure would mean.
“Over the last couple days it’s gotten more real to me,” Green said. “If it ends after 13 and a half years, what a f***** run it’s been. I’ll take the fine. What a f***** run it’s been.”
Green, alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, formed the backbone of the Warriors’ golden dynasty. The trio won four championships in an eight-season stretch. However, the first fracture in that core arrived when Thompson requested a trade and eventually joined the Dallas Mavericks.
Since then, Curry and Green have continued carrying the franchise’s legacy. Yet Green now appears closer than ever to a possible move.
