Dwight Howard cryptically replies to LeBron James’ post, sharing his dream of playing for the Duke Blue Devils. Howard, a former teammate of James at the Los Angeles Lakers, forms a scenario of them playing together again under the Devils’ head coach, Mike Krzyzewski.
James posted on X about his vision of playing for “Coach K” and his dream in their home court. He shared how he and Krzyzewski were honored to work together, then commended the coach’s legacy.
“Just woke up from having a dream I was playing for Duke for Coach K inside Cameron Indoor Stadium! It was INSANE in there. Told Coach K it was an honor to suit up for him and he said the same thing back to me. He’s such a LEGEND! Then…..,” James said.

Dwight Howard then shared James’ post, captioning where both of them, along with Lakers head coach JJ Redick, would play for Duke:
“Imagine JJ, you , and me playing at Duke,” Howard said.
Dwight Howard and LeBron James won the NBA Championship in 2020. Both were prep-to-pro players who never went to college and went straight to the league. After getting his first champ, the former left the Lakers and returned in 2021, but once more parted ways and went to a league in Taiwan.
Despite not playing for Krzyzewski at college, Dwight Howard was under his tutelage during the 2008 edition of Team USA, where they got the Olympic gold medal. Howard was also James’s teammate at that time.

Dwight Howard denies rumor from NBA legend criticizing his ethic
During his appearance with Shannon Sharpe’s “Shay Shay Podcast,” Dwight Howard renounced the lingering rumors that the late NBA legend Kobe Bryant had criticized his professionalism, bringing up his good performances even after his back surgery in 2012.
Sharpe also recalled when Howard seemingly rejected the Lakers’ offer of giving him a max contract during the 2012-13 season. The Atlanta native declined, defending that he left the team then and went to the Houston Rockets to play with James Harden, a rising, formidable player
“I did not turn down a max contract… No, and I’ll tell you this they [the Lakers] said they put up billboards all around L.A. That never happened… A lot of that stuff wasn’t happening… I went to Houston because I saw a young James Harden back then. I saw a young menace I could grow with…,” Howard said.
“There’s no way he said he didn’t like my work ethic. There’s no way. there’s nobody in the NBA who complain say something about Dwight Howard’s work ethic. There’s no way! My body is better now than when I came into the league!” Howard on the “rumors” about his attitude.
Dwight Howard had three stints with the Lakers, all of which only lasted for one season. He got his first league championship in his second stint, the 2019-20 season, where he played with star LeBron James.
