The San Antonio Spurs are playing in the past two weeks as if they are not missing their superstar. It should not be wrong to credit it to the return of prized rookie Dylan Harper.

The Spurs got one on the road against a formidable opponent, the Orlando Magic, to get their second straight win after beating the Memphis Grizzlies not even 24 hours before. They are now 3-1 in their last four that included wins against two above .500 teams, Denver Nuggets being the other one.
They have been playing the last nine games without their star Victor Wembanyama who is dealing with a calf injury. The latest update says he could return before Christmas.
Harper missed five games, too, but since his return, he has been making up for the lost time. He scored in double digits in the last four games. He even went on a stretch of four games to record 0 turnover while being the team’s secondary playmaker behind De’Aaron Fox.

Dylan Harper could make a case for ROTY
He has a lot of people talking after the Magic game for his ability to control the game, use his wide body, and just being NBA ready.
Dylan Harper gets into the paint at will–and largely makes good decisions when he gets there. Really impressive for a rookie.

Even on a flawed collegiate team where defenses were hyper focused on stopping him or Ace Bailey, Dylan Harper was a standout at getting to the rim
At the NBA level, where he has more spacing, that skill has effortlessly translated, even against better D pic.twitter.com/40xdx023KW

Dylan Harper is the most nba ready guard I’ve seen since Luka

Harper talked to the broadcast team after the game and credited his recent play to his team who he said is deep. He specifically mentioned Fox and Harrison Barnes for helping him learn the ropes of an NBA game. Starts at 1:53 mark on the video below.
“It shows our depth and how deep we are.” @spurs rookie Dylan Harper on what the win tonight against Orlando means.
He also talks about what it took on the second night of a back-to-back and what it’s like to play on a winning team being such a high draft pick! pic.twitter.com/XtTUYWyDv3
