San Antonio Spurs rookie star Dylan Harper recently made NBA rookie history, and his dad, former Bulls legend Ron Harper, could not be any prouder.
The Brooklyn Nets came back from being down by 26 points and had a chance to pull off an upset before falling 118-107 to the San Antonio Spurs, where Victor Wembanyama made his mark, and the Nets just could not respond. Rookie guard Dylan Harper saw some NBA action and flashed potential in limited minutes, providing a burst of energy on both sides of the ball, as the Nets will continue to work in young pieces with their players who were already established scorers.

In light of Dylan’s demonstration of a potentially bright future, Ron Harper, a five-time NBA Champion, and father to Dylan, commented on how proud he is of his son for showing signs of following in his footsteps. Ron posted on social media celebrating Dylan as the youngest rookie in NBA history to reach the combination of 20+ points, 5+ rebounds, 5+ assists and 0 turnovers in one game.
“Proud dad and family let’s go!!!” the former Chicago Bulls guard posted on X.

During the preseason games with the Spurs, Harper talked about how he took advantage of the opportunity to find the chemistry with his teammates, being the newest face on the roster.
“It felt good being out there, playing with the guys, getting our chemistry together,” Harper said. “I think getting my wind back day by day, game by game, so it definitely felt great being out there and winning.”

He also talked about his experience of fitting in and his mentality of focusing on simply doing his best for each game, more than anything else.
“Everyone at this level is just as good as everyone else,” he added. “Just trying to find that edge of where you fit in at, I think, is the biggest thing. But overall, at the end of the day, it is just basketball. You got to go out there and play.”
Dylan Harper Gets Praise From Coach
In a post-game interview following theri victory over the Nets, San Antonio Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson praised rookie Dylan Harper, particularly with how he handled some plays during the evening.

“He made some really solid, simple plays tonight,” Johnson said. “I think it is a theme of our team of continuing to do what I think we got away from ourselves a little bit, where there is a simple shot or a simple pass or a play to be made.”
