ESPN Analyst Thinks The Celtics Are Still the ‘Favorites’ to Win the Title, Citing a Slight Concern This Season: “They’re a Little Bit More Vulnerable Than Last Year”

Is there trouble in paradise? With a 28-12 record, the Boston Celtics remain in second place in the Eastern Conference. They have, however, recently struggled, losing three of their previous five games. Even though the Celtics are still a top team, Brian Windhorst of ESPN mentioned one issue the club needs to deal with this season.

Windhorst saw that something needed to be done about Boston’s outside shooting. The Celtics were second in efficiency with 38.8% last season and led the league in 3-pointers made with 1,351 shots. The reigning champs are ineffective from long range, despite still leading the league with 714 made shots this season. With 36.2% of their shots made from outside this season, the squad is 15th in the entire association.

“I do think what’s going on right now is they’re just missing shots,” Windhorst said. “If you look at the lst five games in particular, which they’ve lost three of them. They’ve been dead-last in the league in 3-point shooting in that span. This is a team that is used to leading the league in 3-point shooting.

Despite this, however, Windhorst still believes the Celtics are still the favorites to win the championship. However, they are more at risk this season.

“They’re a little bit more vulnerable than they were last year. Last year, they had four different guys who shot over 40% on threes. This year, that’s down to one… They were laughing the field with how strong they were and they really were untouchable throughout the back half of the season. They’re not untouchable anymore. I still think they’re the favorites in the East, but they’re not untouchable.”

The Boston Celtics were named the 2025 NBA Team of the Year

The NBA announced on Wednesday that the Boston Celtics have been named the 2025 NBA Team of the Year. The reason for their selection was because of their “success across several business areas, including team-record revenue in ticketing, partnerships, digital content and merchandise, as well as their community initiatives.”

The Celtics’ team president, Rich Gotham, released a statement following the news about the organization’s award.

“It’s been a great year on and off the court and we are honored to be recognized as the 2025 NBA Team of the Year,” Gotham said. “This award acknowledges our commitment to excellence and the growth of our business across a range of areas – from fan engagement and community impact to operational efficiency and innovation. It’s a true testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team and we’re grateful to the loyal fans and team partners that support us.”

Congrats to the Boston Celtics for being the NBA Team of the Year at the 2025 NBA Team Sales and Marketing Meetings

The award celebrates outstanding achievement in digital content creation, community outreach, and more.
