Serbia and Nikola Jokic were overwhelming favorites heading in to EuroBasket 2025 and it was understandable as the Joker is arguably the best player in the world. The Denver Nuggets star got 72 percent of the votes for the MVP in a survey conducted by FIBA before the start of the tournament.

Serbia were seen as a runaway winners with 73 percent, miles away from the 10 percent received by Germany who won the gold medal after defeating Turkey in the finals.
Orlovi came home empty as they only made it to the Round of 16. Their first loss in the tournament was in the hands of silver medalists Turkey.
The disappointing finish meant no MVP award for Jokic despite his staggering individual performances. He is not even in the Top 5 according to FIBA.
EuroBasket named its All-Star 5 and it is comprised of Germany’s Dennis Schroder who also took home the MVP, Turkey’s Alperen Sengun, Greece’s Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Germany’s Franz Wagner.

Nikola Jokic is in Second Team
Jokic did not end the competition without an honor as he still got named to the Second Team.
FIBA wrote:
Even though Serbia suffered a bitter disappointment and were eliminated in the Round of 16, it wasn’t because of Jokic’s lack of effort. The Joker put the team on his back and even stepped further up when Bogdan Bogdanovic suffered an injury. In the end, Jokic has 22.3 points, 9.0 rebounds nad 4.2 assists on average to show for it in the favorites’ early exit.
