Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson was recently in the hot seat as a viral social media post claimed she laughed at the accent of an Asian reporter during one post-game interview.
In a recent post-game interview, a clip showed Aces four-time MVP A’Ja Wilson in front of the press, and a reporter, with a foreign accent, was asking a question. As the reporter asks his question, Wilson can be seen hiding a laugh as she bows her head.

X account Bricks Center posted the video with a caption that implied Wilson laughed at the reporter’s accent. However, fans were quick to debunk that the reporter, for starters, was not Asian but had a French accent.

Also, after others have examined the full post-game press conference video closely, the moment can be seen simply as a part of the clip spliced maliciously. For one, the question was directed at head coach Becky Hammon, and Wilson was fooling around with her about the topic of teammate NaLyssa Smith and he foul counts.
“By interesting, do you mean that’s s**t?” Hammon asked playfully.”
“Yeah, I can’t say that, ’cause I have a brand to protect,” Wilson replied.
“Are you saying I have no brand?” the coach quipped back.
It was in this moment that the French reporter asked his question, and Wilson was still in a playful moment as he was delivering his query.
A’Ja Wilson makes Playoff History in Fever Game
In Game 4, A’ja Wilson recorded 31 points while also providing a well-rounded effort as the Las Vegas Aces knotted their WNBA semifinal series with the Indiana Fever, totaling nine rebounds, four assists, three steals and three blocks in 36 minutes.

Wilson made 14-of-24 from the field and was 3-of-6 from the foul line, leading the Aces’ offense in a performance that was a big reason the team got the winning result.
Wilson placed herself in a very select group of postseason performances with her line, as she became just the second player to record 30 points with three or more steals as well as three or more blocks in a WNBA playoff. She is the only player to do this with two postseason outings, beginning in 2023.
The performance caught the eyes of reporters and analysts alike, who were able to pour over the historical conditions of what was being witnessed and Wilson’s ability to impact the game on both ends, as the Aces press toward a semifinal meeting.

So far this season, A’Ja Wilson is averaging 23.3 points per game, 10.2 rebounds, and 3.1 assists. She shoots 50.5% from the field, 42.4% from three, and 85.5% from the free-throw line.
