Nico Harrison was recently fired from the Dallas Mavericks, and news reports may already be suggesting where he would go next. With a potential destination suggested, fans gave their honest thought on where the former GM could bring his “legacy” next.

In a post on X, NBA Centel reported that the Los Angeles Lakers are looking to hire former Dallas Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison as their new GM. The post, however, is purely satirical, since NBA Centel is a known parody and satire account. Still, some fans went along with the joke that the GM who brought Lukas Doncic to the Lakers would ultimately follow him to the same franchise.

In a letter to fans, team owner Patrick Dumont announced that the Dallas Mavericks have terminated the contract of general manager Nico Harrison, ending his controversial tenure, which reached its apex the moment he traded Luka Doncic, with the Mavericks collapsed this season.

The Mavericks named assistant general managers Michael Finley and Matt Riccardi as co-interim GMs until they find a replacement and conduct a comprehensive search for a new permanent GM.

Dumont characterized the termination as a necessary step to invigorate the Mavericks’ momentum expectations, citing a disappointing start to the season, despite that almost all of the season lies ahead.

Dumont said that “no one associated with the Mavericks organization is happy with the start of what we all believed would be a promising season.” He added that it is his responsibility to act when expectations are not met.

Dumont also added that the move of firing Harrison was “critical to moving our franchise forward in a positive direction.”

Nico Harrison Should Be Hired by LA, Says Former NBA Star

Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas shared his honest thoughts on the news of Nico Harrison getting fired from his job as the general manager for the Dallas Mavericks. According to Arenas, Harrison is not a terrible GM, as a lot of fans label him. In fact, he has done a good job, though not from the perspective of Mavs fans.

“So what he did was great. I mean, it was great for us in L.A. We’re not mad at Nico. I mean, s**t, he can have a job here. You know, we better hire him,” Arenas said on “All The Smoke” podcast.

“Someone told me they’re building a Nico statue in front of Staples,”Matt Barnes, the show’s host, chimed in.

Currently, no name has been floated to replace Nico Harrison as GM of the Mavs.
