San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembenyama underwent drug testing for his unusual growth spurt, a recent report from social media claimed.

In a post on X, a report claimed that “Sharms Charania” reported that Victor Wembenyama was ordered for drug testing, in light of his unusual growth spurt in the last recent years.

While the Spurs star did exhibit growth during his time in the NBA, the source of the “news” is a known parody account. NBA Centel is a parody account that parodies NBA Central, which is a trusted third-party source for NBA and basketball news. Even the name of the “source” for the news is a parody of the real ESPN insider Shams Charania.

Wembanyama has been listed to be standing at 7 feet and two inches and 235 pounds on the Spurs’ updated roster for the 2025-26 season. This is slightly up from a height listing of roughly 7-foot-3 during his rookie season, which implied almost two inches of growth and a significant weight gain within two two-season span of time.

Media coverage amplified the update and noted the practical effect: a taller, heavier Wembanyama would be among the NBA’s tallest players and change match‑up dynamics, though outlets also pointed out that official listings can shift for several reasons, including remeasurement and rounding conventions.

ESPN Analyst Gets Honest on Victor Wembanyama “Real” Height

Questions about Victor Wembanyama’s listed height resurfaced after former NBA center Boban Marjanovic said the San Antonio forward looked taller than his rookie measurement, prompting an ESPN discussion that Wembanyama may have been understated when first listed at 7‑foot‑3 and could now measure around 7‑5 or taller.

“He was listed at seven foot three as a rookie, but that was a lie,” Brian Windhorst said. “He was not seven feet three inches tall. I believe he was seven feet five inches tall. He is now listed at seven-foot-five inches. I think he might be approaching seven-foot seven inches.”

Wembanyama’s already exceptional wingspan and positional impact. Fans and analysts have often noted how even small changes in listed height alter matchup dynamics and public perception of a generational prospect. The growth spurt that his rookie measurements and his current one show has field discussion amongst fans and analysts alike.

Victor Wembemyama has been confirmed as a starter for the Spurs for the 2025 season. This comes after his 2024 season, where he missed a number of games due to a shoulder injury.
