Shai Gilgeous-Alexander just waved the white flag on Christmas Day. The reigning MVP admitted the San Antonio Spurs are better than his Oklahoma City Thunder squad after getting whipped 3-0 in two weeks.

The defending champs started 24-1 but dropped four of their last six. The worst part? Their 117-102 Christmas Day beatdown is the third loss against the same opponent, the Spurs.
SGA got a clear idea of what Victor Wembanyama’s Spurs are built with, and he confessed the Spurs are far superior to the Thunder. Fans on social media then started torching him with zero sympathy, branding OKC an overhyped squad.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Comes Clean After Thunder Get Embarrassed by Spurs Again
Right now, the Thunder sit 26-2 against everyone else, but the irony? Their record this season is 0-3 vs Spurs.
Gilgeous-Alexander didn’t sugarcoat the optics after Thursday’s loss. “We have to get better as a group. You don’t lose to a team three times in a row in a short span without them being better than you,” Gilgeous-Alexander said postgame.
He added, “So, we have to get better. We have to look in the mirror, and that’s everybody from top to bottom, if we want to reach our ultimate goal.”

The All-Star guard’s admission confirms what the numbers already showed. Gilgeous-Alexander posted 22 points on brutal 36.8% shooting and finished minus-15. His teammates went ice-cold from deep, hitting just 11-of-44 threes.

Following the convincing 15-point victory, Wembanyama confirmed San Antonio discovered OKC’s kryptonite. “This is like a playoff series. We learned a lot about them on the tactical side. I don’t want to say too much about it. Keep something for us,” Wembanyama said.
The Christmas Day loss literally shook Thunder’s championship mindset. Chet Holmgren managed just 10 points despite grabbing 12 rebounds. Jalen Williams contributed only 12 points. Seems like San Antonio actually stole the patent to beat overhyped OKC every time.
NBA Fans Roast Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for Admitting Defeat to Rising Spurs
Fans on social media torched SGA for basically conceding the West to San Antonio. The reactions came in hot with an absolute reality check.
“SGA so overrated man,” one fan wrote.
Another added, “Fake mvp.”
A third claimed, “Need a number 2. Shai playing with some hoes especially Chet.”
The fourth fan suggested, “Chet needs to man up and handle wemby.”
A fifth fan added, “He’s right, spurs are the better team.”
A random X user remarked, “Y’all were too predictable for the Spurs.”
So, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has essentially waved the white flag, Victor Wembanyama still views the Spurs–Thunder matchup as a growing rivalry, comparing it to a playoff series.
The two intraconference rivals will meet for the fourth time this season on Jan. 13 in Oklahoma City. It will be worth watching to see whether the Thunder respond — or if the Spurs close the gap on OKC’s 26–5 record.
