On Monday, Collin Sexton had a viral moment at the free-throw line in his second game as a member of the Chicago Bulls. The NBA player made a shot from the charity stripe and showed his middle finger at the rim. It was caught on the broadcast as the Bulls suffered a 123-115 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. The young guard finished with 21 points and went 6-for-8 from the line.
While fans on the internet thought it was funny, the NBA didn’t. On Tuesday, the league issued a $35,000 fine to Sexton for his gesture at the rim. Fans online had a field day with the update from the league and talked about it on X.

Here are some of what the fans said about Sexton’s fine.
“Lmfaooo called it Adam Silver pay day,” a fan said.
“35k for a middle finger is crazy who gets the money,” another fan commented.
“Flippin off the basket OR flippin off that old Nets guy who’s always screamin? 🤣” one fan said.
Other fans thought that the NBA should pay attention to other problems in the league.
“And what about fines for teams that tank like Utah? They should be fined money for every game,” someone commented.
“Nothing on Giannis defrauding fans or the Jazz losing on purpose yet? No? Ok,” a comment read.
“Yall worry about this more than teams losing intentionally. Get your priorities straight. Wack a** league,” one fan commented.
Collin Sexton’s new chapter is with the Bulls
Before the start of the 2025-26 season, Collin Sexton was traded by the Utah Jazz to the Charlotte Hornets. However, his time with the Hornets was limited. After playing 42 games, the former lottery pick was traded to the Bulls for Coby White and Mike Conley Jr.

Unfortunately for Collin Sexton, it’s a similar situation with the Jazz and Hornets. The Bulls are not considered a playoff team and have moved on from their veteran players. Chicago is 24-30 this season and is expected to miss the postseason.
