The Miami Heat suffered a 119-116 loss on Sunday against the Toronto Raptors. With their loss, the Heat have fallen to a 9-9 record in the 2024-25 NBA season. Jimmy Butler tried to will the team to a victory with his 17 points, five rebounds and three assists. However, the Raptors were too much to handle for Miami.
Butler and the Heat played the second game of their back-to-back game where they captured a win in their first matchup on Friday. The six-time All-Star performed well in their 121-111 triumph in the Emirates NBA Cup Group Stage. The Heat star had 26 points and six assists which helped Miami capture the win.
Butler, however, was not aggressive and only made nine tries on the floor in their second game against the Raptors. The Heat star wasn’t the only player who struggled against Toronto as Bam Adebayo found it difficult to make shots and ended the night with 13 points on a 38.5% shooting clip. Star guard Tyler Herro was the only player to reach at least 20 points in the game as he scored 31.
Veteran guard Terry Rozier tried to help the team with 17 points off the bench. Unfortunately for the Heat, that wasn’t enough.
After the game, Miami’s head coach Erik Spoelstra spoke about the team’s subpar performance.
“We definitely did not offer any kind of resistance, certainly not the kind of resistance that you would need to do on the road to put yourself in a legitimate chance to win,” Spoelstra said. “It didn’t matter what lineup, it didn’t matter what scheme, it didn’t matter who was on who. We just were not able to contain the ball in transition or in any kind of one-on-one situation.”
