Flau’Jae Johnson, rapper, and LSU Tigers star, recently spilled some tea on her coach, Kim Mulkey. Johnson discussed Mulkey and so much more on Thursday’s episode of her podcast ‘Best of Both Worlds’. Before joining the LSU Tigers as a coach in 2021, Mulkey played college basketball for Louisiana Tech and also the USA national team.
Flau’Jae Johnson mainly spoke about her coach’s love for country music and how she tries her best to get her players listening to it. While Johnson is not a big fan of country music, she seemed to be on board when Mulkey played some Beyonce, who last year released a country album, and also headlined the Super Bowl half-time show.
“Oh, I saw it. Coach Mulkey actually made us watch it in the film room. She was talking about, ‘You see who that is right there? That’s a bad woman.’ Coach Mulkey loves country music. She played us this song, and it was terrible. It was just a country song about toughness, and it was terrible. So the next day, she came in and played some Beyonce, and I was like, ‘Okay, I can get with this.’” Flau’Jae Johnson said on ‘Best of Both Worlds’.
Currently, Flau’Jae Johnson and the rest of the LSU Tigers are preparing to meet the Florida Gators next up in the schedule. As of now, the team is ranked no. 2 in the Southeastern table with a 4-0 conference score and 19-0 overall, one spot below the ruling South Carolina Gamecocks. In their most recent game, the LSU Tigers won against the Vanderbilt Commodores, 83-77. In that game, Johnson scored the highest for the Tigers, with 25 points and five rebounds.

Flau’Jae Johnson Cites LiAngelo Ball As Inspiration After ‘Tweaker’s’ Popularity
Flau’Jae Johnson is just one of few rap-athletes in the basketball world. In the same podcast episode, Johnson spoke about exactly this, mentioning how it is only she, Shaquille O’Neal, Damian Lillard, and now LiAngelo Ball, who have created a unique niche while balancing one foot in rap and one another in basketball.

Apparently, Flau’Jae Johnson has been strongly motivated after LiAngelo Ball’s ‘Tweaker’ became so popular. After learning about how the song became so trendy and managed to enter the Billboard Top 100 list, Flau’Jae Johnson is eager to get into the recording room soon enough. Johnson has released quite a few songs mainly to continue her father’s legacy, of which ‘Came Out A Beast’ is one of the latest.
