Former 76ers Star Ben Simmons Refutes Crazy Takes About How Teams Don’t Want Him, Says He is Working To Become ‘Bulletproof’ As Answer to His Main Hoops Problems

Ben Simmons has become a target for trolls for the way his career took a turn for the worst since parting ways with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2022. He is now un-signed and most of the takes say it is because he is no longer an NBA level type of player.

The three-time All-Star wants to refute such takes. He said he does not have a team because it is his personal decision to skip this season.

What prompted this major decision? He suggested that routine works took a toll on his body aside from his nagging and devastating back injury.

“I’m about to be 30 years old, and I need to make the best decision for Ben Simmons,” he said in an interview with The Athletic’s Sam Jane.

“It’s not fun going out there, not being able to move, not be able to jump, or, you know, take hits. There’s no fun in that. Sometimes you got to make a decision with how you feel and what’s best for yourself. And that’s what I’ve done, and it’s not for everybody to really understand, because they’re not in my shoes.”

Simmons recently expressed desire to return to Sixers and was even ready to play for free.

    Ben Simmons teases comeback preparations

Simmons has taken on another sport but that is just a side gig. He is a part-owner of a professional fishing team.

He spends most of his time training. Jane wrote he is currently in Los Angeles training and that he is working on something that will keep him longer on the court.

Before he attempts another comeback, Simmons said he is training in Los Angeles with the goal of becoming “bulletproof” to avoid further setbacks. He also said his shot finally feels good and that he can now take a simple hook shot without any discomfort.

Simmons last played for the Los Angeles Clippers. He was regarded as among the most athletic players and was even compared to Lebron James.

His best years was spent with the 76ers as star partner for Joel Embiid. The farthest they reach was the 2019 Eastern Conference semis when they lost on a buzzer beater by Kawhi Leonard during the overtime of Game 7.
