The Washington Wizards have had the best 2024-25 NBA season. They’re at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings with a 2-16 record and are on a 14-game losing streak, the longest in the league. When Washington failed to record a victory in November, former player Lou Williams recommended starting over.
In the Monday episode of “Run It Back,” Williams addressed the team’s lack of wins in the past month. He suggested Washington should look to trade the young veterans (Jordan Poole and Kyle Kuzma), as they are not yet ready to lead a franchise.
“Your young vets of the team, it’s just not working,” Williams said. “Maybe they’re not ready or poised to be in a leadership position where they can lead a franchise into wins… It’s in the numbers, 0-14 in the month of November, there’s no bright spots.”
“These guys are better off being second and third options somewhere else. Very talented guys. But they’re not ready to lead an organization and it shows in the play. Not only this season but last season as well. Blow it up.”
Lou thinks it’s time for the Wizards to sell everything…👀

While both players have won championships (Poole with the Golden State Warriors and Kuzma with the Los Angeles Lakers), they haven’t improved Washington. The former Warriors guard is averaging 21.0 points and 4.9 assists, but it hasn’t been enough to give them wins.
Kuz, on the other hand, has struggled to make significant contributions this season. He’s averaging 15.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists. His shooting efficiency from deep has greatly decreased, only making 27.6%.
Wizards center linked to Western Conference title contender
It is anticipated that the Lakers will act before the trade deadline on February 8. They have been watching Jonas Valanciunas, a center for the Wizards, in hopes of pairing him with Anthony Davis in the frontcourt.
According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Lakers could trade away reserve guard Gabe Vincent to acquire the European big man.
“The Los Angeles Lakers are among the teams with the most diligent interest in trying to acquire Valanciunas, league sources told HoopsHype,” Scotto wrote.
“Vincent has been a disappointment for the Lakers since signing a three-year, $33 million deal due to injuries and inefficient shooting. Los Angeles will look to include him as a salary filler with draft pick compensation in trade talks. Keep an eye on Los Angeles potentially dangling Vincent and future second-round picks to try and land Wizards center Jonas Valanciunas, a coveted Lakers target.”
