The NBA has never been shy when it comes to expressing their political opinions, so it shouldn’t be surprising to anyone that George Karl didn’t hold back his thoughts when it came to American politics.
The legendary head coach hasn’t been seen on the sidelines of an NBA court in years, but he’s earned the respect of people in and around the league for his coaching acumen that people listen whenever he has something to say.

His latest take sees him go to the political realm, where he makes an emphatic appeal to one of the presidential candidates to reconsider his decision to run for the country.
George Karl begs Joe Biden to stop running for re-election

The former Denver Nuggets and Milwaukee Bucks head coach made a serious appeal to Joe Biden that he should reconsider his decision to run for re-election and have someone else take over his spot.
Per The Spun’s Chris Rosvoglou, Karl commented on Kawhi’s withdrawal from Team USA that immediately went on a political tangent:
“Unsurprising re Kawhi,” Karl wrote on X. “Now it’s your turn to do the same, Biden.”
Karl then clarified that his post doesn’t make him pro-Donald Trump.
“If you’re confused, this doesnt mean I like Maga man,” Karl explained in a follow-up tweet.
It may seem out of left field, but Karl isn’t the first public figure to openly oppose Joe Biden’s bid for re-election, with George Clooney making another public appeal:
“We are not going to win in November with this president. On top of that, we won’t win the House, and we’re going to lose the Senate,” Clooney wrote. “This isn’t only my opinion; this is the opinion of every senator and congress member and governor that I’ve spoken with in private. Every single one, irrespective of what he or she is saying publicly.”
This hasn’t been the first time NBA players and legends dipped their toes in politics. Charles Barkley made a strong rebuttal against Trump’s allegations, while LeBron James refused to stay silent about his political beliefs.
