Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is at the center of trade talks in the 2025-26 NBA season. The lack of team success has led to this moment for the organization and the All-Star player. With a 19-29 record, the Bucks have had a difficult season and are not in the running for the Larry O’Brien trophy.
Due to Milwaukee’s difficulties, Antetokounmpo is amenable to a possible trade. Wth that, multiple teams have reached out to the Bucks for a chance to acquire the Greek Freak. However, in a recent interview with Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the star forward expressed his desire to remain loyal to the team.

“If you ask me what do I really want, deep down in my heart? I want to be a Milwaukee Buck until I retire and win a championship here,” Antetokounmpo said.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has only played for one team in his 13 seasons in the NBA. With the Bucks, Antetokounmpo has developed into one of the best players in the world, and he also led the team to a championship in 2021.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s message to those saying he doesn’t want to stay in Milwaukee
There has been flak from fans about Giannis Antetokounmpo’s loyalty to the city of Milwaukee. During his talk with Owczarski, the nine-time All-Star set the record straight about his love for the place.
“I got married in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. And also, legally, from the courthouse,” Antetokounmpo said. “And also, I’ve had my kids here. My father is buried here. So tell me you, when I open the passport of my kids and it says born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, my dad is buried here, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.”
Marc Stein of “The Stein Line” also revealed on Tuesday that deep down, the Bucks want to keep their star player. Stein reported that a belief within the organization was that lottery luck could convince Antetokounmpo to stay.
