Giannis Antetokounmpo Gives Props to 3 Most Dynamic Players He Likes the Most in the NBA – ‘I Like Guys Who Can Play Defense’

It takes one to know one. That is an adage Giannis Antetokounmpo lives by when it comes to how he wants to enjoy watching NBA. The Milwaukee Bucks star named his three favorites players in the league and all of them are the type of who plays like him, the type who can affect both ends of the floor.

The Greek Freak sat down with Sport24 to share about his life as an NBA player, his beginnings, his victories, and losses, and even his future plans.

One question was about the best players in the NBA right now. He named himself, Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, Jayson Tatum, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as those who can be considered at the top of the food chain.

However, the “best player” title varies each year depending on who is winning it all.

“So if I, let’s say, this year go back and I’m improved and I help my team win the East and we go to the finals and we play against whatever team is there, I automatically become the best player in the world,” he said.

“But if Luka does it, he becomes the best player in the world. If Jokic does it, he’s the best player in the world.”

    Giannis Antetokounmpo likes 2-way players

While those four are the best players in the league, he said he prefers those who can play both offense and defense. That is what Antetokounmpo is known for, having won both MVP and the Defensive Player of the Year Award.

One person he is personally fond of is Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“Anyway, whoever has the best year will be the best player. My preference is two-way players. I like one player, Anthony Edwards. I like him a lot,” he said.

“I like Anthony Davis. See what I mean? I mean, I like [Kawhi] Leonard, I like him a lot. I like guys who can play defense and offense and are dogs. When we get on the court, you know they’re always going to give 100%. They might not play well, but they’re always going to give 100%.”

Of the three, Edwards is the one who hasn’t received any official recognition for his defense. AD is yet to win the DPOY but he has been named to the All Defensive Team five times.

As for Kawhi, he is a 2-time DPOY although they came from the 2015 and 2016 season before he had major injuries. He has a total of seven Defensive Team honors.
