The Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes are heating up as multiple teams are linked to the Milwaukee Bucks star. Among the teams interested in Antetokounmpo are the Golden State Warriors. The Western Conference team could go after the Greek Freak to try to pair him with star guard Stephen Curry.
Antetokounmpo is ready to move on from the Bucks, whether it’s this upcoming Feb. 5 trade deadline or in the summer. Fortunately for him, the Warriors need help after star forward Jimmy Butler suffered a season-ending torn ACL in his right knee. Golden State wants to keep its championship window open, and acquiring another star is believed to be the key.

On Monday, NBA insider Jake Fischer reported that Giannis Antetokounmpo might not like the idea of teaming up with Curry. Mostly, it’s about the potential backlash he could face, similar to what Kevin Durant received.
“League sources say that Golden State is aware of recent rumblings that Antetokounmpo can’t be assumed to be as eager as he was once perceived to be to relocate to Stephen Curry’s town and team,” Fischer reported. “How credible are such rumblings? Presumably only Giannis knows for sure.
“Yet, I have heard from sources briefed on the situation that some in the know suspect Antetokounmpo could be turned off by the idea of joining an older team and/or facing the sort of criticism that Kevin Durant continues to absorb to this day about teaming up with Curry.”
Draymond Green addresses the Warriors’ interest in Giannis Antetokounmpo
Warriors’ Draymond Green has come up as a potential asset to be traded for the pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo. Because of his $25.8 million salary, Green could be part of a deal as a salary match for Antetokounmpo’s $54.1 million earnings for the 2025-26 season.
Green isn’t paying attention to the hubbub. After the team’s 131-124 loss against the Detroit Pistons on Friday, the veteran star addressed the rumors.
“I’ve been here for 14 years,” Green said Friday night. “I have no reason to sit and worry about leaving. But if I’m traded, that’s part of the business. I ain’t losing no sleep, though. I slept great last night.”
