Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo was unable to join the team’s media day as he had to stay in Greece after getting diagnosed with Covid-19 infection. He did promise that he will join their training camp as soon as he gets back.

That’s not what happened on Sunday as the Greek Freak decided he will need more some time before joining the scrimmages.
Antetokounmpo was present during the training in at Florida International University as they prepare for their pre-season game with the Miami Heat. However, he was prevented from joining the 5-on-5 practice as he is not yet 100 percent.
“I think it took a toll on my body. I’m not feeling 100% yet physically,” Antetokounmpo told reporters.
“Just taking it day by day, getting back in shape. I was able to do some 5-on-0, run up and down a little bit. Tomorrow I’ll be a little better. I’ve got like 18 days until the first game so I think I’ll be fine.”
Head coach Doc Rivers confirmed a timeline for his return.

“He said he’s going to need a good three days,” he said.
Bucks are entering a new season with a new look squad after the decision to part ways with Damian Lillard.
Giannis Antetokounmpo trying to stay healthy
Antetokounmpo skipping the 5-on-5 for now is just one of many ways he has been taking care of his body. He said he wants to have a longer career and there’s something that should change not only in his lifestyle but also on the way he plays.
“If I get to 36, I think I’ll still be able to play at a high level because I take good care of my body,” he said.

“After that, we’ll see. If we can go, we’ll go. If not, we’re disappearing on an island in Greece.”
Health has been the main enemy of Antetokounmpo and the Bucks in the past seasons. They have been to the second round since 2022 due to injuries to their star.
