Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks have not had the ideal success in the 2025-26 NBA season. They have an 11-16 record, putting them at the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference. Antetokounmpo is the lone star in the roster, which makes it difficult for the Bucks to compete.
The Bucks have been plagued by trade speculations in addition to their difficulties. It started during the offseason, after the team suffered its third-straight first-round exit. Since then, there have been questions regarding his future with the franchise. But nothing related to the trade noise has ever been addressed by the Greek Freak.
According to league insider Chris Haynes, Antetokounmpo could start to speak up about it if the Bucks’ struggles continue.
“I think what he’s doing and the position he’s taken is that, you know he’s gonna give his all when he’s out on the basketball court,” Haynes said. “He feels like, if he’s doing what he does on the court, everything else will play out, it should’ve played out in the right way.
“I think the position Giannis has taken is that he's going to give his all when he's on the court. So he feels if he's living up to his end, but the team isn't, eventually he’ll have to say something directly to the front office or maybe even say something publicly.”@ChrisBHaynes https://t.co/8ZcvvJUUAw pic.twitter.com/9zYhjezljD

“If he’s doing everything on the court, and he’s living up to his end, but the team still isn’t up to par, eventually he will have to say something directly to the front office or maybe say something publicly.”
Still, Giannis Antetokounmpo has remained loyal to the team that drafted him.
2 West teams withdraw from the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes

There have been several teams linked to the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade talks. Among the noise are the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. According to Marc Stein, the Western Conference teams have no plans of joining the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes.
“There is a growing belief among trade trackers that San Antonio and Houston, like Oklahoma City, do not plan to join the chase for Antetokounmpo even if the Bucks ultimately do decide to consider in-season proposals for their two-time MVP. All three of those teams, as you can imagine, like what they have going,” Stein wrote.
There were whispers that the Spurs might team the Greek star with Victor Wembanyama. This could potentially create an interesting frontcourt for San Antonio. But given that Antetokounmpo is a star, the Bucks could demand a lot in a potential deal.
